PCBA Process Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
- Process Development & Optimization:
- Design, develop, and implement efficient PCBA processes for new product introductions (NPI) and existing SMT production lines.
- Continuously monitor and analyze production processes to identify and implement improvements in efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Troubleshooting & Technical Support:
- Provide expert technical support to resolve process-related issues on the production floor, including equipment malfunctions, material defects, and process deviations.
- Equipment Management:
- Oversee the selection, installation, and maintenance of SMT equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Quality Assurance & Documentation:
- Collaborate with the quality team to establish process controls and standards, ensuring product quality and compliance with industry standards (IPC).
- Develop and maintain comprehensive process documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and control plans.
- Training & Continuous Improvement:
- Provide training and technical guidance to production staff on SMT processes, equipment operation, and best practices.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, to enhance process efficiency and product quality.
- Technology Evaluation:
- Stay abreast of industry trends and evaluate new technologies and methodologies to improve SMT processes.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Process Engineer in SMT manufacturing or a similar role.
- Proven experience with SMT equipment, including pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, screen printers, and AOI systems.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of SMT processes, including solder paste application, component placement, reflow soldering, and inspection.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and experience with process simulation tools.
- Familiarity with IPC standards for electronic assemblies.

- Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to visually verify fine detail work, understand and follow directions, and lift up to 20 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Certification in IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, IPC-J-STD-001).
- Experience in new product introduction (NPI) and design for manufacturability (DFM).
Working Hours:
- Normal work schedule is Monday through Thursday from 7am until 5:30pm, and Friday remote from 8am to 12pm. Overtime may be required as needed.
